環境問題などに取り組む全国規模の市民団体「ネットワーク地球村」高木善之さんの話を聞いて、
地球温暖化や森林破壊、ごみの問題なんかを勉強した時期がありました。

高木さんの話はなかなかショッキングで、きちんと知りたい気にさせられたんですね。
たとえばオゾン層が破壊されて有害紫外線が増えると生物は生きていけないこと。
原因のフロンガスは規制されたけれどフロンはオゾン層に届くまで何年もかかるから破壊はこれからとか。

そういった環境のことを真剣に考えて行動する人が増えて地球村は１万人を超える団体になってるようですね。（http://www.chikyumura.org）

そんなことに興味を持ったころ、たまたま自宅を建てることになり、
現在のHOP（ハウジングオペレーション）社長、石出和博さんと出会いました。

上棟式の時でしたか、お話をする機会があってたまたま環境問題が話題になったんですね。

建築現場には分別の大きなごみ箱を置いたほうがいいとか
ドイツのフライブルグという街は環境都市としてすすんでいるとか、生意気な口聞いて。

そうすると石出社長が、「それをコンセプトになんか提案してくださいよ」と。
実現するのかどうか半信半疑だったけれど、翌週コピーライターの佐野さんに電話。

そのころ読んでいた環境に関する本に加え、新しいものも追加して
佐野さんの事務所レバンに持ち込み、少し嫌がる彼に無理矢理文章を頼み込みました。

ちょっとした環境ブックレットに仕上がった提案は大ウケで、ほぼラフ通り完成。

会社のPRは最後にほんのちょっと載せただけでしたが、それを許してくれた石出さんは凄いですよ。
もともと“設計はおまかせ”で頼まれるような建築家ですから
僕にもおまかせにしたほうがいいものが上がると思ったんですよ。たぶん。

After a lecture by Mr. Yoshiyuki Takahashi from a civic group “Earth Village Network” working with the environmental issues nationwide, I had a time to study the global warming, deforestation, and waste issues.

His lecture was pretty shocking and made me to learn more. For example, he told about increasing of harmful ultraviolet rays because of destruction of the ozone layer would unable for any lives to live. Freon, a cause is restricted now, but the destruction starts from now, as it takes the Freon many years to reach to the ozone layer.

More people are concerned and have started acting for these environmental issues, and so the Earth Village now has more than 20,000 members.

The time I started to interested in, I was planning to build my house and met Mr. Kazuhiro Ishide, the president of HOP (Housing Operation). At the ceremony for the completion of framework, I had an opportunity to talk with him, including the environmental issues. I told him my ideas, saying large trash cans for separated wastes should be set at construction sites, or the city of Fryberg in German was environmentally advanced, being a wise-guy. Then Mr. Ishide said to me “well, make proposals based on the concept.” I was uncertain about it to be realized, but anyway, called up Mr. Sano, a copywriter next week.

Beside environmental books I was reading, I added some new information and brought to Mr. Sano’s office, the Levan. He was a little hesitated but I asked and forced him to write. The proposal was done in a way as an environmental booklet and well received to be completed almost the same as the proposed idea.

The advertisement for the company was limited in a small space at the end, and I thought Mr. Ishide to approve it was a large-minded person. He was an architect normally asked to design leaving decisions to him, and so he might have thought the same and let me to work in my style for a good result. Maybe.
