札幌ススキノにあるデイバイデイは開店から26年にもなります。
国内外問わず多くのミュージシャンが訪れて数々のセッションが行われてきました。今もですけど。

オーナーでジャズシンガーの黒岩静枝。スージーという愛称で呼ばれています。
身内の僕が言うのもなんですが札幌ではずいぶん有名になりました。

スイングジャーナルのベストヴォーカリストにもノミネートされたりしてますしね。
ケイコ・リーに負けたりするんですけど。

ここ数年は北海道以外のライブに引っ張りだこで、特に九州ではずいぶん盛り上がっているようです。
以前は毎日店でライブをやってましたが、今は週の後半ぐらいなのかな。

つらいことがあったりしたら、行ってみるといいですよ。もし店にいれば話せます。
とにかく元気をくれる人で、それが歌にも現れてます。

そんなデイバイデイの仕事はオープンの時からやってます（やらされてるとも言う）。
ロゴなんかはいまだに使ってますし。22歳のかけだしの時に作ったので、今見るとちょっと恥ずかしいんですが。

最近は何を作ってもおまかせです。印刷が上がってから見せますからね。
ホントにありがたい理解者です。あんまりお金もらえませんけど。

このポスターは2006年の年賀状をアレンジしたもの。
Music makes you happy. をテーマに、うちの娘の髪の毛を音符にしてみました。
小さい子どもは歌を聴いて踊ったりするとき体中が音楽って感じでしょ。
子どもはインスピレーションくれますよ。娘にも感謝。

It’s been 26 years since Day by Day Jazz Bar opened in Susukino, Sapporo. Many musicians here and abroad has come to this bar and performed.

Suzie Kuroiwa, owner of the bar and jazz singer, was given a nickname “Suzie” and eventually became pretty famous in Sapporo.

One time she was even nominated in the best vocalist category in “Swing Journal”. She lost the award to Keiko Lee though.

She is a much-in-demand singer these days. She has been performing many live shows in various places other than in Hokkaido in this past few years. She seems especially popular in Kyusyu.

If you are in a bad mood, I recommend you to go to the bar. If she is there, you can talk to her. She will cheer you up. Her singing is also uplifting.

I have been doing various works for “Day by Day” since it opened. She still uses the bar logo that I made when I was still 22. But it is embarrassing for me to see it now…

These days, she just let me design as I want to. So I just show the finished work after the printing is done. I appreciate her trust in my ability although I don’t get paid much…. I made this poster based on the design for the New Year’s greeting card of 2006. The theme was “Music makes you happy” and I designed the musical notes with my daughter’s hair. You know when small children listen to music and dance, it seems as if their whole body were made of music.

I always draw inspiration from children. Also I want to thank my daughter.
