奥尻島の地震をきっかけに札幌のミュージシャンが集まって、年に一度チャリティコンサートを開催してきました。
これは2000年の時のものです。

このときはなんだか、お金そのものをモチーフにしてみたかったので大きな色紙を床に敷いて、
まずカメラを俯瞰でセッティングしてしまいました。紙幣を撮影することを前提にしたんですね。

そんなやり方はめったにしませんが、どうしてそんなことしたのかも覚えてないんですよ。
１万円札を折ったり、しのらせたりしてるうちに音符になることに気づいたんですがそれはやりはじめて3分ぐらいたったときでした。
今思うと自分の力じゃないような感じもしますね。

音符のほかに1万円札で折り紙をしてアルファベットを作りました。
そのひとつひとつを撮影して切り抜き、並べてレイアウトしようとした時、ふと心配になりました。
「こんなふうにお金で遊んでいいのかな？」

そこで、すぐ、当時の大蔵省造幣局に電話で問い合わせました。事情を説明すると、
「話を聞いてしまった以上、OKとは言えませんね。今、数人のアーティストの方と裁判も進んでいます」と。

臆病な僕は、せっかく撮影した写真をすべて線画にしてしまいました。

After the Okushiri Island Earthquake, musicians in Sapporo gathered and started to hold annual charity concert. This poster is for 2000.

That time, I wanted to use the money itself for a motif, and so I spread a big colored paper on a floor and set the camera looking down. I must be presuming to take pictures of the bill.

It‘s very seldom for me to work in such way, and moreover, I don’t remember why I did so. I was just holding and warping a ten-thousand yen bill, and then I noticed it change into a note. It was maybe 3 minutes after I started doing. When I think back, it isn’t done by myself only.

Beside a note, I also made alphabets with ten-thousand yen bill. While I took pictures of each alphabet and then cut them to work on a composition, suddenly I felt insecure. “Is it right to play with bills like this?”

Immediately I called the mint of the Ministry of Finance and asked. After I explained the situation, he said that “Well, as I know now, I can’t say it is OK. Some trail cases are in process with few artists.”

I was too timidity and changed all photographed alphabets into outlines.
