これは阿寒湖の森に群生しているシナノキの花から採れたハチミツ。

阿寒湖を取り囲む森は財団法人の前田一歩園財団というところが
百年以上にわたって厳しく管理していて、
原生の姿を保つように努力しているとのこと。

森の木は地中の菌でつながっていると何かで見た記憶がある。
背が低くて日光が届かない木にも、その菌たちが別の木から栄養を運んでくれるらしい。

原生林であればその共生のネットワークは
たぶんすごいものなんじゃないかな。
言ってみれば阿寒湖自体より大きなひとつの生命体だよね。

ハチミツは花から採れるわけだけれど、
これは巨大な森が産み出したように思えたから、商品名を「森の蜜」としてみた。

そして僕らの想像を超える営みが続いている土の中のことを思うと、
ラベルは深い茶色にしないわけにはいかないよね。　

This honey is extracted from the flowers of linden trees that grow in clusters in the forests of Lake Akan.
The forest surrounding Lake Akan has been strictly managed by the Maeda Ippo Garden Foundation for over 100 years, and they are working hard to keep it in its primeval state.
I remember reading somewhere that the trees in the forest are connected by underground fungi. It seems that these bacteria can carry nutrients from other trees to trees that are too short to receive sunlight. If it's a primeval forest, the symbiotic network is probably amazing. In other words, it's a living organism bigger than Lake Akan itself.
Honey can be obtained from flowers, but it seemed like it came from a huge forest, so I decided to name the product ``Forest Honey.''
And when I think about what's going on in the soil that goes beyond our imagination,
The label has no choice but to be a deep brown.
